Smalls are just that i.e. small pieces of furniture including
bowls, rice buckets, soy pots, etc. They are important for two
reasons. One reason is that the markup for smalls for most of
our customers is usually
higher then for larger pieces and customers can buy them on
the spot and carry them away (an armoire, for e.g. would need
to have shipping arranged). The other reason is that shipping
is a high percentage of the cost when buying antique
furniture, so most buyers put in a load of smalls to fill in
the holes and bring down the average shipping cost per piece
(in other words shipping and processing is basically free for
smalls). Some customers order no smalls, some just a few, but
our average customer includes about 200 smalls per 20ft.
container, though we've shipped as many as 400 smalls in a 20
ft. container. Prices vary so please see our smalls section in
photo gallery.(Smalls)
Each time we do
partial shipments we usually give a quote back to the customer
on shipping and packing and tell them roughly how many smalls
we can fit in. As the shipping for partial shipments is even
higher then for containers most customers have us fit in as
many smalls as possible in partial shipments. Please go to "Smalls"
In our photo gallery for some samples of what kind of
smalls we have.
*(always give a main city or port when asking for quotes)
Recently we have added many
art crafts and reproductions to give customers more choice in
the smalls they can order. This has been more then well
received and we'll be expanding on it in the future. See
crafts and reproduction section. For some of these crafts
discounts can be given on quantity orders.
